AMI Insurance supports local league stars to be part of Christchurch NRL match

To enable Christchurch kids to see their NRL rugby league heroes, AMI Insurance has provided 200 tickets to Canterbury Rugby League for a fun day of activities at the Penrith Panthers match against the New Zealand Warriors at AMI Stadium, May 14th.

The lucky kids will have a once in a lifetime opportunity when they’re invited onto the pitch at AMI Stadium to play mini league matches as the curtain raiser, before lining up and welcoming the NRL stars onto the pitch for kick-off.

During half time, a relay will be held between the participating local rugby league clubs.

Each club will choose a representative for each age grade from five to 15, with the running distance increasing for each age, culminating in a 15-year-old player running 100m to the finish.

The winning club will receive a $1,000 community grant from AMI to help purchase new gear for their club.

“It’s a unique match for AMI Stadium to hold and we wanted to ensure the youngest fans had a chance to come along and see their heroes in action,” said Merran Anderson, General Manager Marketing & Communications at AMI.

“AMI Stadium is a great place for the community to come together, and we really hope these kids have an amazing day that they will talk about for weeks and months to come.”

Match organiser Justin Wallace said he was grateful for AMI Insurance enabling Canterbury Rugby League to get so many local junior rugby league players involved in the event.

“AMI Insurance has added another wonderful layer of grassroots rugby league involvement to what is already a terrific Carnival of Rugby League with numerous community activities throughout the week,” said Mr Wallace, adding that the Panthers will conduct a junior rugby league clinic and both teams will visit 24 around the region.
