SBS Bank Announced as Major Partner of Sport Hawke’s Bay
Sport Hawke’s Bay today announced a new major partnership with SBS Bank that will help extend the organisation’s reach into the community as it aims to roll out a get active campaign later in the year.
Sport Hawke’s Bay chief executive Mark Aspden said the regional sports trust had some exciting initiatives planned and SBS Bank’s financial support provides momentum to make Hawke’s Bay one of the most active regions in New Zealand.
“It is great to have an organisation partner Sport Hawke’s Bay with such a strong affinity to the Hawke’s Bay region. To see a nationwide organisation such as SBS keen to get in behind what we stand for and give back to the community is fantastic.”
“We’re driven to ensure Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s most active and successful region for sport and recreation,” Mr Aspden said.
SBS Bank and HBS Bank branches have recently unified under the SBS Bank brand, after merging the two entities in 2010. The bank is New Zealand owned.
SBS Bank Hastings Branch Manager, Grant Brodie, said the bank is community focussed and staff see the significant benefits of being active and living a healthier lifestyle.
“We are really excited to be working alongside the team at Sport Hawke’s Bay. The work they do in the community to get more people active and living a healthier lifestyle is great and compliments a number of organisational values we have.”
SBS Bank Napier Branch Manager, Kerry Harding added, “SBS Bank supports a number of organisations throughout the region. This additional support for Sport Hawke’s Bay shows the commitment we have to the region and what the region means to us as an organisation. We feel we can add some real value to this high performing sports trust.”
Although not giving too much away on the campaign to get more people active Mr Aspden said it would focus on being fun and drawing people together to enjoy the many facilities the region boasts.
“We’ve got the best climate, great recreational facilities such as the walking and cycling pathways, many events and council parks, and we hope to see more people enjoying them together.
As part of
the sponsorship deal SBS Bank will also be the naming rights
holder for the annual Hawke’s Bay Secondary School Sports
Awards held at Napier’s Municipal Theatre in October.
Sport Hawke’s Bay has been operating in the region, being the independent voice for the sport and recreation sector, since 1989.
SBS Bank was founded in 1869. Its Hawke’s Bay branches were previously the Hastings Building Society which then traded as HBS Bank after the 2010 merger with SBS Bank. Following the completion of a full rebrand in 2015, the branches have now unified under the SBS Bank brand.
