(Naw… aren’t they nice!)
Solo artist Anna Coddington and NYC-based duo Lips are excited to announce a headline tour where they will take to the stage as a three-piece for the first time ever!
Showcasing the multi-instrumental talent and critically acclaimed songwriting of both acts, they will play songs from their back catalogues, as well as new unheard material from both of their upcoming projects. A collaboration between old friends, the show will be a genuine partnership as they share the stage and their instruments – swapping between guitars, analog synths, drums, and vocal duties.
Steph Brown of Lips and Anna first met while sharing a room on tour nine years ago, and are delighted to be hitting the road on what will be Lips first ever tour in New Zealand and Anna’s first in two years. This combined live show promises to be a rich tapestry of sound, bursting with energy and created 100% live without the use of backing tracks or loop pedals for a unique, authentic experience.
To celebrate the coming together of two of New Zealand’s brightest indie stars, every ticket purchased will also receive a FREE download of both artists’ new singles.
Anna’s new song Slate, a self-produced toe-tapper about fresh starts features Steph on synths. The new offering from Lips is Traces of Teddy, a song off their upcoming album.
A regular in the Fly My Pretties collaboration, Anna Coddington’s enchanting live performances and stunning songwriting have seen the Raglan-born Aucklander tour New Zealand on multiple occasions and make the Top 20 list for the Silver Scroll Award four times. Anna has released two full length albums, The Lake and Cat & Bird, with a third due early next year. The new album will continue in the new direction set by 2013 singles Bird In Hand, Make You Mine and The Runner, incorporating electronic tinges for a sound that highlights Anna’s powerful voice and beautiful melodies.
Characterised by a giant pair of lips on legs, Lips is the musical project of Auckland born Stephanie Brown, and West Virginia native Fen Ikner. The duo, who originally formed in New York, now split their time between New Zealand and Brooklyn, NY, and have experienced incredible success here in New Zealand, being awarded the Silver Scroll for their song Everything To Me. Lips have released two EPs to date, Look, Listen in 2012 and Ghosts and Demons in 2013, and their debut full-length album is set for release in early 2016.
Tickets for these special performances including the FREE single downloads will be available from Eventfinda from today
