Zealand for Intimate Headline Shows This August
He recently toured our shores as the special guest of Ed Sheeran and has a platinum single on the airwaves right now. Frontier Touring is thrilled to welcome back British singer-songwriter Jamie Lawson, who’ll perform intimate headline shows across Australia and New Zealand this August.
“Australia is a country that I feel would really dig Jamie. I’ve known Jamie for about five or six years – he’s just a phenomenal talent.” – Ed Sheeran
2015 has been huge for the talented Manchester singer, who saw his debut single, ‘Wasn’t Expecting That’ (watch the video here), reach number one in Ireland upon its release, with over half a million YouTube views worldwide of its video so far. Having first made its debut in Australia, following the single’s success in Ireland Lawson re-recorded it (including new vocals captured in Brisbane) – and immediately the song was a hit, peaking at #7 on the NZ Top 40 Singles Chart, #3 on the ARIA Singles Chart and currently still in the NZ Chart Top Ten.
Lawson’s virtual overnight success is testament to his talent. Relatively unknown before a fan sent online footage of a show to Irish station Toda FM, Lawson’s rise has been extraordinary. Aussie fans got a special introduction to Lawson’s live performances when he supported long-time pal Ed Sheeran on the ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker’s recent ‘X Tour’ of Australia and NZ tour in March/April.
‘Lawson drew the [crowd] in with his charm and captivating love songs accompanied by guitar…’ – Daily Telegraph
‘Jamie Lawson won the hearts of everyone ... definitely someone to keep an eye out for in the future’ – Coup de Main
Friends since their days busking around London, Lawson is the very first artist to be signed to Sheeran’s brand new record label Gingerbread Man Records, and has supported Sheeran on the road throughout the UK and Europe. “I literally went from playing an open mic in Manchester one week to playing in front of 17,000 people the next week with Ed in Australia,” Lawson joked to The Daily Telegraph.
Lawson has performed alongside talent like Martha Wainwright, Damien Rice, Van Morrison, Glen Hansard, Katie Melua, James Morrison and Angus & Julia Stone. In June 2015 he has another massive stadium show: he’ll join none other than Taylor Swift – not to mention Australia’s own Vance Joy – at the American singer’s massive sold-out show in London’s Hyde Park.
Genuine and heartfelt, the songs of Jamie Lawson will melt your heart. He won’t be performing in venues this small and intimate for long – get in quick to catch Jamie Lawson live and up close this August!
