HeadChef wins the July Wildcard Chart
July 2014 turned
out to be one of the closest contests ever on
theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart. It was back
and forth, with the lead traded throughout the final days of
the competition, but in the end, HeadChef had enough to see
themselves take down the Making Tracks Wildcard Funding with
their song “Think Of Me”, just pipping the Rory Noble
produced track “Put It Down”.
Speaking to theaudience.co.nz after their win, HeadChef were delighted. “It's such a relief to come out on top especially after such a close competition, the last few days especially have been very tense and we're all so stoked with the outcome.” Like always on the Wildcard Chart, it was the fans and friends of the band that helped them take out the number one spot. “We've had so much support from friends, family and even our school, (Wellington High School) it's been crazy"
For HeadChef, the plan is that the win will be their first step towards world domination. “This is just the start for us and we hope this will help us take our music worldwide, but for the next week I think it'll just be sinking in still but we're definitely going to be celebrating for a while.
Thank you so much for this opportunity.”
As for the eventual runners up, the collaboration between Rory Noble, Fortafy, Rob Vegas and Australian Will Singe, the fan support can’t be forgotten there either. Singe was especially grateful on Twitter: “BIG shoutouts @theaudiencenz AND BIG LOVE GOES OUT TO ALL THOSE AMAZING SUPPORTERS cause at the end of the day we're nothing without you.”
Commiserations to the “Put It Down” team – massive effort to make the race so close.
Congratulations HeadChef, winners of theaudience.co.nz’s Wildcard Funding Chart for July 2014! Listen to their winning song “Think Of Me” here. They now become the second Wellington band in a row to claim the Wildcard Funding, following Drax Project’s success in June. Can the capital go for the threepeat in August? The chart is now open for the new month, so anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes to claim $10,000 worth of Making Tracks funding should get involved now.
