MIT today announced the appointment of two new Council members, Jill Tattersall and Kira Schaffler.
Tattersall and Schaffler replace outgoing Council members, Dr Ken Larsen and Mr Howard Small, whose terms end 30 April 2015.
MIT Council Chairman Peter Winder recognises the important contribution that both Dr Larsen and Mr Small have made to MIT over many years.
“Mr Small has been a Council member since June 2006 and Dr Larsen since April 2004. Their service and contribution has been significant and has helped to guide MIT through considerable change and some very challenging times.”
Winder says the diverse experience of Tattersall and Schaffler will add depth to MIT Council.
“While Jill and Kira bring different skill sets to MIT Council, common to both is a passion for learning and education. Their breadth of experience will strengthen the capability and depth of the Council as we strive to ensure MIT offers dynamic, relevant and flexible ways for people to study.”
Jill Tattersall is currently Chair of Kiwa Digital Limited, an award winning interactive media company producing experiential digital books; Director of Cornerstone Education Group, a group of Private Training Establishments specialising in vocational and workplace learning. The two new appointments complement the Council led by Peter Winder that includes Brian Monk (Deputy Chair), David Wong-Tung, Bernadette Pope, John Hannan and Dr Manuka Henare.
The term of appointment for Tattersall and Schaffler is 1 May 2015 to 30 April 2019.
