A unique opportunity to invest in the Jack Nicklaus brand   2 Mar 2006

The Kinloch Club® is home to New Zealand’s only golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. That’s something special. Jack Nicklaus is simply a golfing legend. His 18 major championship wins and more than 100 tournament victories puts him in right up there in the realms of "the greatest sportsman ever"! His record is unlikely to be surpassed.

But unlike many champion sportsmen Jack Nicklaus was not content to bask in the glory of the past and in the past 30 years has forged a career as one of the world’s leading golf course designers.

It was why Kinloch Golf Resort Limited chose him to design the international golf course at Kinloch.

"We spent a lot of time planning the commercial aspects around the development and after much research found that a Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Kinloch would provide the greatest investment value for those who bought into the residential development", Managing Director William Ormerod said.

Apparently, according to Ormerod, and backed up by the independent reports commissioned around Nicklaus designed courses in other countries, an investment is almost assured due to the association with the "most powerful man in golf".

This, according to Ormerod, presents a unique opportunity for purchasers.

"It would be fair to say that this will most likely be the only Jack Nicklaus course ever built in New Zealand.

This in itself adds huge investment growth opportunity to the Kinloch development due to its limited number of quality real estate sections," Ormerod said.

And sales of real estate sections to date appear to indicate that purchasers can see the value of buying into a limited number of real estate sections directly associated with the greatest ever name in golf. Ormerod picks up on this theme.

"National and international investors as well as holiday home and lifestyle property buyers have already staked their claim in the Kinloch Club®, including Jack Nicklaus himself who was one of the first to buy land here", he said.

The statistics do seem to add weight to Ormerod’s claim.

Golf Inc has voted him the world’s most influential person in golf, while Golf Digest hails him as the world’s leading active designer.

Of the top 100 courses in the world today, more than 30 bear the Jack Nicklaus signature.

And actually looking at the independent research undertaken on Jack Nicklaus signature course developments overseas Ormerod’s claim of investment value and appreciation is only further reinforced.

Norton Consulting Inc, a Florida based company with more than 25 years experience conducting market and financial analysis of residential, resort and golf course communities at hundreds of US and international locations, agrees.

Their findings state that "real estate lots in selected communities anchored by Jack Nicklaus Signature golf courses have realised consistent and substantial increases in value", and "you can expect annual compounding returns of between 13 per cent and 21 per cent during the early years".

Their findings also state that "the inclusion of a Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course has a direct impact on the continued growth of the residential pricing. This has created a significant net return to the owners in the community".

William Ormerod urges people to think further ahead.

"Look at other quality developments and you would be hard pressed to find something that offers as much inherent value as Kinloch. Real Estate in this development is extremely well priced and will only appreciate over time. There are limited sections available and once they are gone, no more will be available. This will be lifestyle, retirement and investment heaven."
