Investing in New Zealand: What are you waiting for?   2 Mar 2006

There are a lot of reasons why investing in property in New Zealand is a good idea. Here are just a few, in black and white.

Favourable Exchange Rate

The pound is worth around 2.6 New Zealand dollars, making property more affordable.

Tax Advantages

New Zealand gives the foreign investor some superb tax advantages such as: no capital gains tax, no stamp duty, no inheritance tax, no land tax, no financial transfer tax.

Strong Capital Growth

New Zealand as a whole achieves 10 per cent capital growth per annum.

Undervalued Property

New Zealand Real Estate is considered by many experts to be incredibly undervalued but is expected to catch up with world prices as the New Zealand property market becomes an integral part of the global market.

Positive Isolation

Isolation is normally perceived as a negative attribute of a property investment but in New Zealand’s case it’s precisely this isolation that makes investing in New Zealand such an exciting and viable investment option. With all that is going on in the world today, a safe and stable investment environment is very hard to find.

Tax Deductible Expenses

New Zealand offers a wide range of tax deductible expenses on residential rental property. Interest on borrowed money for a rental property is fully tax deductible and many other costs involved in maintaining a residential rental property are also 100 per cent tax deductible.

Political Stability

New Zealand has a stable political environment and has achieved an AA plus credit rating. The New Zealand Government actively encourages and welcomes foreign investment.

Clean Green Natural Environment

Not only is New Zealand one of the cleanest and greenest countries in the world, it is considered one of the top five safest places to live.

Ease of Ownership

Purchasing and owning an investment in New Zealand is as easy as owning one in the UK. The legal systems are very similar and New Zealand’s regulatory structure is supportive of residential property investors. An overseas investor can also obtain finance of up to 80 per cent on a New Zealand investment property.

So what are you waiting for?
