Selected from over 1000 entries, Goin’ Home puts The Thomas Oliver Band on the same level as bands like Coldplay and U2 for the festival’s celebrated Music Video category.
The video directed by Jennifer Quinlin and produced courtesy of Park Road Post will compete in the ten day festival running from 21-31 July.
Goin’ Home director Jennifer Quinlin describes the inclusion of a New Zealand video with the work of established film makers as ‘incredible’.
“Goin’ Home has as good a chance of winning as the multi-million dollar masterpieces. That’s the beauty of this festival – everyone is judged on a totally level playing field”.
The Thomas Oliver Band’s success internationally comes on the back of being named to perform alongside Slash and Oli Brown Band in August at G-Taranaki, New Zealand’s only international guitar festival. The band’s combination of bluesy rock and their fresh instrumentation, including lap-slide guitar, double bass and baritone saxophone, make them a perfect fit for the festival.
The Thomas Oliver Band play at Bodega in Wellington on June 26 at Home is Where The Heart Is with friends including Lisa Tomlins, Andy Christiansen (The Black Seeds) and Ed Zuccollo (Harbour City Electric).
