Keir Hansen appointed Netball New Zealand’s Head

Netball New Zealand (NNZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Keir Hansen to the role of Head of High Performance.
Hansen brings to the role a vast amount of experience gained both in New Zealand and internationally.
Most recently, Hansen was High Performance Sport NZ’s (HPSNZ) National Strength and Conditioning Manager where he oversaw the national strength and conditioning system, delivering support to 14 Olympic and Paralympic high performance programmes.
NNZ chief executive Jennie Wyllie says she is delighted to have secured someone of the calibre of Hansen.
“This is a key appointment for Netball New Zealand as we build towards Netball World Youth Cup GABORONE 2017, the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and Netball World Cup LIVERPOOL 2019,” Wyllie said.
“The high performance knowledge and experience that Keir brings to the role will add significant value to Netball New Zealand as we aim to regain our position as the number one Netball nation.”
Hansen says he is looking forward to hitting the ground running and working with the team at Netball New Zealand.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to work in one of New Zealand’s most popular and successful sports,” Hansen said.
“I look forward to building on the solid foundations that have been laid and helping deliver and drive a world-class high performance programme.”
Hansen replaces former Head of High Performance, Steve Lancaster. He will start in the role onNovember 14, 2016.

Biography –
Keir Hansen
Keir Hansen has over 16 years’
experience in high performance sport both in New Zealand and
internationally. Most recently, he was High Performance
Sport NZ’s (HPSNZ) National Strength and Conditioning
Manager, a position he held since 2014, where he oversaw the
national strength and conditioning system, delivering
support to 14 Olympic and Paralympic high performance
programmes. Prior to joining HPSNZ in 2011 as a Sports
Performance Manager, Keir held roles with the Worcester
Rugby Football Club in England and the New Zealand Warriors
Rugby League Club. Keir holds an MBA in addition to doctoral
and master’s degrees in sports science. Hansen has also
served on the Rugby Football Union (RFU) Injury Audit
steering committee, the NZ Rugby League Medical Council, and
as a reviewer for a number of respected industry journals.
