BIG KIWI TEAM FOR AUSSIE ROTAX FINAL THIS WEEKEND
An 11-strong team of Kiwi karters will be in Australia this weekend contesting the Grand Final round of this year's Rotax Pro Tour at Dubbo in rural New South Wales.
The group - one of the biggest yet to cross the Tasman for an Australian kart meeting - is made up of a mix of Pro Tour regulars and top fellow Kiwis either making a one-off return to the long-running Australian series or taking the opportunity to check it out for the first time.
Young gun Emerson Vincent is the best placed Kiwi heading into the round, lying second overall in the series' points standings in the Micro Max class.
He is followed by Sam Wright from Auckland who is fifth in Junior Trophy, Connor Davison from Hamilton who is eighth in Mini Max and Matthew Payne from Pukekohe, 12th in Junior Max.
This weekend Wright moves up to the Junior Max class where one of three female drivers in the squad, Rianna O'Meara-Hunt from Wellington, is next best Kiwi in 19th in the points standings despite missing the first round.
The other two females in the team, the Stewart sisters from Wellington, are ninth (Madeline) and 12th (Ashleigh) in Rotax 125 Light while fellow Pro Tour regular Brendon Hart is 11th in Rotax 125 Heavy.
Joining the eight regulars at the Pro Tour Grand Final meeting at Dubbo are Fynn Osborne from Hamilton in the Junior Trophy class, Andy Schofield from Cambridge in Rotax 125 Light, and Stuart Marshall from Auckland in DD2 Masters.
