Revving up for ITM Auckland SuperSprint Fan Day
Get revved up for the Supercars’ return to Auckland with a celebration of motorsport in Aotea Square on Thursday, 3 November.
The ITM Auckland SuperSprint takes place at Pukekohe Park Raceway from November 4 – 6.
In the lead-up to the Pukekohe event, motorsport will take over the heart of the central city for a day, when Supercars fans can get up close to their favourite drivers and teams at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint Fan Day.
The Fan Day, on Thursday, 3 November, kicks off with dozens of American classic cars on display in lower Queen St, outside the Britomart Transport Centre, from 10am.
At 11.40am, the classic cars will carry the Supercars drivers up Queen St in convoy, to Aotea Square.
From midday until 1.15pm, all Supercars drivers will be in the square, giving fans a chance to get autographs and selfies. The classic cars will be on display in the square from midday until 2pm.
There will be entertainment in Aotea Square from 11am – 2pm, including a live band and the chance to have a go at the newly released Xbox Forza Horizon 3 game.
The Fan Day follows on from the ITM Auckland SuperSprint Karting night on Tuesday, 1 November. People who have pre-registered for this free event can try and beat pre-recorded times set by Supercars drivers Fabian Coulthard and Dave Reynolds at three karting tracks across Auckland.
Registrations for ITM Auckland SuperSprint Karting will open at aucklandnz.com/supersprint in October.
The free events are delivered by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), to celebrate the ITM Auckland SuperSprint 2016.
The 2016 event marks the fourth year of a five-year investment in the only New Zealand fixture in the Virgin Supercars Championship by ATEED, on behalf of Auckland Council.
