Land Rover Announces Winner of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Mascots Competition at Star Studded Sporting Event
Thursday 27th August Last night Land Rover New Zealand announced Jake Thornton as the winner of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Mascot Competition at a star studded Event at the Vector Area – An Evening with Richie McCaw, and Dan Carter.
Land Rover New Zealand will make Jake’s dream come true, by sending him to England with his Uncle to run out onto Wembley Stadium, as a New Zealand team mascot at RWC 2015.
In an unforgettable evening the lucky winner and his family only found out he had won when he was told by Dan Carter himself.
The exciting evening also included a sumptuous dinner, a Q&A session with the record-breaking pair of rugby greats as well as live music and entertainment, all hosted by MC John Campbell.
Showing its on-going support for rugby locally and globally, Land Rover, as a worldwide partner of Rugby World Cup 2015, offered this once in a lifetime opportunity to all New Zealand Land Rover owners.
The competition proved hugely popular attracting over 300 entries from Land Rover owners around the country who entered by uploading an image of their son, daughter, niece, nephew, grandchild or even family friend, aged between 7-13, holding a Rugby Ball with their Land Rover in shot.
Land Rover New Zealand Marketing Manager, James McKee is proud to be offering such an exciting opportunity in such a rugby mad nation like New Zealand.
“Making it to the Rugby World Cup would be high on the bucket list for all kiwi rugby fans and it’s certainly the dream of rugby mad kiwi kids all round New Zealand, but the list of children who can claim they’ve got their parents or relatives to the RWC remains an exclusive one.
Now we can add Jake Thornton to that list. This is sure to be a moment that Jake and his Uncle will remember for a lifetime and it’s just another way that Land Rover is going above and beyond for its owners and for rugby here in New Zealand and globally,” said McKee.
Jake will join 95 other youngsters from all around the globe, traveling to RWC 2015 to be part of this historical sporting event.
