New Zealand’s best players target Auckland for SKYCITY Super League Darts
For those readers with friend or family in Auckland, this might be of interest.
Radio Hauraki and Radio Sport are proud to present New Zealand’s premier domestic darts competition, SKYCITY Super League Darts which begins on 10 July. Eight of New Zealand’s best players will compete against each other in a tournament unrivalled in New Zealand.
The tournament will be held at SKYCITY Convention Centre across the following dates in July and August:
• Night 1: Friday 10 July
• Night 2: Friday 17 July
• Night 3: Saturday 18 July
• Finals: Saturday 1 August
SKYCITY Super League is an invitational tournament featuring the top four players on the New Zealand rankings as well as four wild cards selected by tournament promoters. The first three nights will see players compete in pool play format, with the top two from each pool qualifying for the semi-finals on the final night.
Included in this tournament are New Zealand’s last two representatives to the PDC World Championships – Rob Szabo and Mark McGrath. Also taking to the oche will be Warren Parry, who is still buzzing after defeating world number one, Michael Van Gerwen, in Sydney last August.
Super League Darts launched across the country in 2014 and delivered New Zealand’s answer to one of the world’s fastest growing sports. This is the first time SKYCITY Auckland have come on board as sponsor for this growing sport which promises to bring the drama of the dart board to the heart of Auckland. SKYCITY Super League brings the energy usually reserved for the UK’s biggest arenas and promises everything one would expect from professional darts.
Darts has experienced rapid growth worldwide and is now the second largest TV sport in the UK, second only to football. In New Zealand the sport gears up for a big year when the world’s top eight players visit our shores in late August for the Auckland Darts Masters.
So get dressed up, get your mates and get ready for arrow time.
More information can be found by visiting www.superleaguedarts.com and by contacting the tournament promoters 265 Events.
