AUCKLAND RUGBY LEAGUE
2015 SAS
College Rugby League season launched
For
immediate release
The 2015
SAS College Rugby League season was launched last night at
the home of the reigning competition champions Kelston Boys
High School.
Speeches from Auckland Rugby League CEO John
Ackland and Vodafone Warriors academy and pathways manager
Duane Mann headlined the evening, which was attended by the
team captains, coaches and school principals of all 15
Premier sides.
The Auckland Rugby League also announced
on the night that through the championship rounds a selected
game will be livestreamed on www.aucklandleague.co.nz, along
with the grand finals for the under 85kg and under 15's
nine-aside competitions.
“It’s going to be a big year
for the SAS College Rugby League competition, with a revised
structure including the new 'Senior A' competition (CRL 2nd
XIII division)," ARL competitions manager Patrick Carthy
said.
“Having the livestreaming on board is a big boost
for the ARL, the schools and all of the players, who will
now be exposed to audiences who can tune in from anywhere in
the world.
“The competition is a proven pathway, with
several of our recent CRL graduates now plying their trade
in the NRL and under-20’s competitions."
Vodafone
Warriors squad members and former SAS College Rugby League
players David Fusitu'a and Amoni Tufui were special guests
on the night, speaking of their experience coming through
the secondary school competition.
The preliminary pools
get underway this Wednesday, with the championship rounds
(contested between the top two teams from each pool)
starting on June 10.
The Premier final is set down for
the weekend of August 20-24, pending Vodafone Warriors home
game details.
