HALBERG SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEE AND COMMONWEALTH GOLD MEDALIST DAVID NYIKA PARTNERS WITH SPORTSFUEL IN PREPARATION FOR THE 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES IN RIO
Hamilton, New Zealand -- Boxer David Nyika has announced a partnership with Hamilton-based supplement store Sportsfuel as a part of his training for the 2016 Olympic Games.
At the age of just 18, David Nyika has exploded onto the New Zealand boxing scene. After 4 years of training at Ringside Health & Fitness Gym in Hamilton, Nyika won 25 out of 29 fights in the light heavyweight division and won the New Zealand National Championships three times. On 2 August 2014, he won the gold in his division at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, launching him into the International spotlight. In January 2015 David was announced as nominee for the Halberg NZ Sportsman of the year. Now, Nyika has set his sights on bringing home the gold medal in heavyweight boxing at the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to August 21.
In order to move from the light heavyweight division to the heavyweight division in time for the Olympics, Nyika has adopted a grueling training schedule. Nutritional support will be vital to his success in gaining the lean muscle mass required to qualify for the heavyweight division.
Along with a healthy diet, Nyika intends to use nutritional supplements to support his weight gain efforts. As the largest supplement supplier in New Zealand, Sportsfuel was a natural choice of partners to supply the necessary supplements to complete his diet. The sports nutrition experts at Sportsfuel will provide Nyika with the right supplements to continue to meet his nutritional needs throughout training to ensure his success. The supplements provided to Nyika will all be available to the general public online and in Sportsfuel stores.
