Aussie Bruiser Adds Roadblock to SUPER 8 Last Man Standing Tournament.
The pathway through SUPER 8’s Cruiserweight Last Man Standing tournament just got tougher with the addition of NSW brawler Anthony McCracken to the 8 man mix on the undercard of the Shane Cameron vs. Kali Meehan SUPER FIGHT onNovember 22 in Auckland.
The rugged Aussie # 6, known as the “Bull”, is renown for his in your face, approach and ability to push a fight into deep water.
He was widely considered hard done by in a split decision loss to New Zealand’s top ranked professional David Aloua, in 2012, and pushed World title challenger Shane Cameron hard over 12 rounds in 2010.
The Mountain Warrior’s memories of their bout of him sum up McCracken’s hard-nosed approach.
“He’s one of those guys who you hit with everything and he still keeps pressuring."
“If you’re not well prepared mentally he’s one of those fighters that can get to you and wear you down."
“He just wont go away.”
Coming off a KO victory in February, the relentless Wagga Wagga scrapper is intent on claiming some big scalps as he fights for a share of the $150,000 prize pool.
“It’s a great opportunity to mix it with the best cruisers in the region in a single night."
“The knock out bonus’s are a real incentive to go for the finish but for me it’s about starting fast, getting through the quarter final and then taking advantage of my conditioning.”
The prospect of meeting heavily favoured Aussie number one Brad “Hollywood” Pitt, holds no demons for the 31-year-old veteran.
“We’ve done plenty of rounds sparring together in the gym and he’s an amazing athlete, with superb eye-hand coordination."
“Although sparring in18 oz. gloves is different from a fight, you get to know one another’s rhythm and understand how he sets up his favourite shots, so over three rounds that gives me the advantage of not falling for his traps.”
SUPER 8 match maker, Mark Keddell is pleased with yet another top Aussie signing strengthening what is shaping up to be a superbly contested card.
“We have two clear objectives: One, provide top regional fighters with a platform to showcase their skills and prove they can step up to the next level."
“And two, that there are no easy fights, no walkovers. Over a given three rounds any boxer can win and that's what makes the SUPER 8 format so appealing – there is no place to hide, every fight matters."

SUPER 8 is an 8

three times in one night through quarter final, semi final
and the grand final match ups to determine who will be the
last man standing.
• The quarterfinal match ups are
drawn randomly at the weigh in, the day before the
tournament.
• The winner of each bout will progress
through to the next round, while the loser is
eliminated.
• The eventual winner will fight three
times with a short break between bouts.
• In addition
to a substantial winners purse, there are fight of the night
and KO bonuses to encourage aggression.
• Judges will
favor effective aggression, power shots and ability to push
the fight.
• In the event of a draw at the end of three
rounds the fight will be sent into a sudden death extension
round.
'THE CRUISERWEIGHT DIVISION – RUNNING
HOT
The modern Cruiserweight division features some of the hardest punchers in the game. Recent Heavyweight champions from the 200-pound (90.7 kilo) ranks include Evander Holyfield, David Haye, Tomasz Adamek and James Toney. Great Heavyweight Champions of the past including Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano often barely weighed in above 190 pounds (86.2 kilos).
Cruisers are fast, explosive and highly skilled, the division is brimming with talent and energized by the ready availability of world-class bouts and the stagnation of the Klitschko dominated Heavyweight ranks, the class is running hot globally.
The Australasian / Asia Pacific Cruiserweight talent pool is the deepest in the region and features a myriad of mouthwatering match ups setting the scene for SUPER 8 II, The Cruiserweights: an 8 man elimination tournament where every fight promises explosive action and spells pure entertainment for fight fans.
