• Rugby World Cup 2015 tickets on general sale September 12 – 29, 2014
• Tickets for all 48 matches will go on sale via tickets.rugbyworldcup.com
• Prices start at £15 for adults, £7 for children
• Oversubscribed matches will go to ballot
• Ticketing advertising and marketing campaign will launch on September 1, 2014
Rugby World Cup 2015 (RWC 2015) tickets will go on sale to the general public next month. Up to one million tickets will be available to fans across the world, and applications will be opened on September 12 and close on September 29, 2014.
Tickets will be priced in four categories for all 48 matches, starting at £15 for adults. Child tickets, priced from £7, will be available for 41 matches. Fans will need to create an account on tickets.rugbyworldcup.com in order to apply, and can apply for up to four tickets per match. For 15 fixtures fans can apply for up to 15 tickets.
Tickets will not be sold on a first come, first served basis, oversubscribed matches and price categories will go to ballot to ensure fair allocation.
The sale will operate on an easy-to-use ticketing platform – tickets.rugbyworldcup.com. A number of tools have been introduced to help fans, including Match Manager allowing fans to limit their spend by submitting an application for several matches but capping the number of matches they can be allocated. Fans can also opt to be allocated tickets at the next highest price category in the event that tickets at their selected category are oversubscribed or unavailable. Use of both tools is optional.
Debbie Jevans, CEO of England Rugby 2015, said: “We are about to embark on an exciting period in the build up to Rugby World Cup 2015, as tickets go on general sale next month. The Tournament is now just over one year away and the rugby world is counting down to Rugby World Cup 2015.
“The application window will be open from September 12 – 29, 2014 and fans can create a ticketing account and start planning their Tournament. We have worked hard to develop a ticketing system which makes the application process easy and efficient, and offers flexibility to fans.
“Prices start at £15 for adults and £7 for children. With 13 Match Venues situated in Host Cities all over England and in Cardiff, it’s a great opportunity for the whole nation to watch the best teams in the world compete for rugby’s most prestigious prize.”
Fans will be informed of which tickets they have been successful in purchasing in October. Any remaining tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis from November.
Fans must only buy from official sources to avoid ticket fraud. Only tickets purchased attickets.rugbyworldcup.com or through official travel and hospitality providers will guarantee entry to RWC 2015 matches. England Rugby 2015 will launch an official RWC 2015 resale platform next year to enable customers to sell any unwanted tickets at face value.
The general sale follows the successful Rugby Community Ticket sales campaign in England and Wales in May. This followed the launch of official supporter tour packages and official hospitality packages, which opened at the start of the year and has seen strong sales around the world.
