For Immediate Release

Appliance Shed Fox Memorial Premiership

Third meets fourth in the biggest Appliance Shed Fox Memorial game of the week, with the Howick Hornets and Papakura Sea Eagles facing off on neutral ground at Walter Massey Park in Mangere East.

The game is the early Maori Television broadcast, with plenty on the line as both sides try and stay in touch with the ladder-leading Pt Chevalier Pirates and Mt Albert Lions.

Howick come off a heart-breaking late loss to Glenora, and face a Papakura team who were solid, but far from spectacular against Otahuhu.

In the second TV game of round 12 Mangere East host Mt Albert.

Alec Brown’s Hawks are the most inconsistent side in the Fox this year, and can go from brilliant one week to lifeless the next.

Their last game, which saw them go down 32-6 to a Richmond side who were until that point without a win all year, was certainly more the latter.

This week Richmond face Otahuhu, who sit one spot ahead of them on the table.

After an awful start to the year Richmond appear to have a new lease on life, and all hope is not lost.

It remains to be seen if new head coach Bernie Perenara can rescue them from playing SAS Sharman Cup footy again in 2015.

After pulling off one of the upsets of the season last week by beating the previously flawless Pt Chevalier Pirates, Marist welcome Glenora to Murray Halberg Park, keen to continue their run of rich form.

Watch out for prop Kaleni Fraser to have another big game, with the talented bopper playing some outstanding footy and sitting in the competition’s top five try scorers.

Northcote and Pt Chevalier round things out at Walker Park.

The Pirates were gutted to drop their first points of the season last week, but admitted that some complacency may have crept into their game after such a long run without a loss.

Expect the reigning Fox champions to fight back in impressive style this week against a Northcote side who are struggling to put results together.
