Lomu joins ambassadors Alison Shanks and Maddie Dillon
Jonah Lomu will be at the North Shore Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon to support Kiwi kids giving it a TRY.
Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon Ambassador and rugby legend Jonah Lomu will be joined by professional cyclist Alison Shanks and triathlete Maddie Dillon.
The North Shore event will be held at Narrowneck Beach on 6 April, 2014 with entries open for children aged between 7-15-years.
The events, which have become a rite of passage for New Zealand children, inspire children to get active and have fun with friends. Children of all abilities can compete in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon and everyone who participates crosses the line as a winner and receives a medal.
Creating a fun environment and encouraging children to give it a TRY is what the series is all about, says Pierre van Heerden, General Manager for Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing Company.
“We are thrilled to have Jonah Lomu, Alison Shanks and Maddie Dillon on board for the North Shore event. Their determination and grit in all endeavours epitomises the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon spirit and we know our young athletes of the future will be excited to see the sporting stars cheer them on,” he says.
Every child who participates in a Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon receives an event pack, an event T-shirt, a swim cap for all swimmers, a certificate and a medal.
Breakfast is also available to all kids participating so they can fuel up on Weet-Bix before the event.
Entry numbers for the North Shore Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon are limited, so schools and individuals who want to be involved should get in quick to secure their place. Kids can enter as individuals or in a team of two.
Registrations for the swim-bike-run event and nominations for Weet-Bix Foundation can be completed online at try.weetbix.co.nz or phone 09 531 5080. The deadline for registrations is Wednesday 2 April, 2014.
