Workshops Food Waste Workshops Coming To The Wellington
Region
Residents in the Wellington Region will be learning ways to save money and reduce food waste next month thanks to a series of workshops coming to town.
The Food Lovers Master Class and the very popular Waste Free Parenting workshops will be presented by Kate Meads throughout the region during the coming weeks in a bid to encourage sustainable consumer behaviour in the district.
“With figures showing that kiwi’s waste over 872 million dollars worth of food every year, councils all over New Zealand are looking at ways of reducing food waste in their communities,” presenter Kate Meads explains.
The Food Lovers Classes are a fantastic tool for showing the community what we can all do to cut down our food waste including some exciting ideas and tips that every household could use to prevent food waste in their home.
Kate’s workshops compliment the ongoing work of the Love Food Hate Waste campaign, a Council supported programme aimed at empowering the community and providing practical ideas for cutting down the amount of food families are throwing out.
“With around a million disposable nappies per day going to landfill in New Zealand (zerowaste.co.nz) this is also a big issue, which is where the parenting workshops come in,” says Kate.
The Waste Free Parenting Workshop is a hugely popular presentation Nationwide and resources parents with tools and advice to emable parents to make good environmental decisions with young children in the home.
“The most exciting part is that not only will people get to take home some exciting new ideas from both presentations, but they’ll also be given $100 worth of products from their local Council at the workshop to take home and try out.”
The Waste Free Parenting workshop will be available in Kapiti, Wellington, Porirua, Upper Hutt, Masterton and Lower Hutt, and the Food Lovers Master Class in Kapiti, Wellington, Porirua and Upper Hutt.
Tickets to the workshops are $25.00 for individuals and couples, and can be purchased online from Ms Meads’ website at www.wastefreeparenting.co.nz or through http://www.eventfinda.co.nz
