Jacquie Elsby of Northland wins Educator or
Nanny of the Year Award 2016
Jacquie Elsby from Totally Northland Homebased ECE Service is delighted to be named the NZ Homebased ECE Association Educator of the Year 2016 at the New Zealand Homebased Association Conference Award Ceremony on Saturday September 17th. Lisa Jorgensen of Kiddz Homebased ECE Service, Christchurch was named as runner up.
The awards, organised by the New Zealand Homebased Early Childhood Education Association, celebrate the quality teaching nannies and educators provide in homes and communities throughout New Zealand.
“Jacquie is a great example of the high calibre and dedication of the educators who provide homebased childcare in New Zealand,”says Evan Kidd, President of the Homebased Childcare Association.
Educa (Online E-Portfolios) is proud to sponsor the Educator or Nanny of the Year Award again for 2016. This is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the quality of work and the important contribution that Educators and Nannies make towards home based education. CEO Grant Richardson says: “We see the benefits for children of receiving childcare and education in natural settings and smaller groups. We believe homebased ECE targets a specific need in the sector that is vital to establishing close relationships and meeting the needs of the individual child so well. The work the Educators and Nannies put in, is crucial to the children and we feel that this Award encourages them to strive to be at their best.”
The awards, part of the Homebased Childcare Association’s annual conference, were held at the Living Springs, in Governors Bay, Christchurch. Jacquie was presented with a trophy in recognition of her outstanding work with young children, and both recipients were awarded a cash prize.
Irene Callen from Totally Northland Childcare, says: “Jacquie has been with us for three years and her excellent practice has built her a worthy reputation. She is a strong mentor to the parents and is also a wonderful role model to the young families who need support such as this.”
Lisa Jorgensen, from KIDDZ
Homebased Childcare in Christchurch, is the Award Runner Up.
Lisa has been an educator with KIDDZ for 3 years and is a
dedicated and passionate practitioner who goes above and
beyond
for the
children and families in her care. She is well deserving of
this award."
The award was introduced four
years ago, as the Association felt it was time that the
people who use and value homebased childcare and education
had a voice and a means to recognise and celebrate the
educators and nannies who do such great work with their
children.
