PM provides further information on Royal Visit

Prime Minister John Key today released further details of the visit to New Zealand next month by Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
The Prince and Duchess will visit Wellington, Dunedin, Nelson, Westport, Ngaruawahia, New Plymouth and Auckland from Nov 4-10.

“I am delighted The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are visiting New Zealand. It will be the Prince’s ninth visit to New Zealand and the Duchess’s second,’’ says Mr Key.
“During their time here they will visit a number of locations together and separately so there will be plenty of opportunities for New Zealanders to get to see them.”
The Prince and Duchess arrive in Wellington on Wednesday November 4 where they will officially be welcomed at Government House, before laying a wreath at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.

On Thursday the Prince of Wales will visit Tawa College and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Te Whaea.

On Thursday afternoon they will head to Dunedin where they will travel on the Taieri Express, visit the Toitu Settlers Museum and the Orokonui Eco Sanctuary. The Prince of Wales will also visit Animation Research and The Duchess of Cornwall will attend a literature event at the University of Otago.

On Saturday the Royal couple head to Nelson where they will attend the Nelson Market and attend a food and wine event. The Prince of Wales will visit the Cawthron Institute and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the WOW museum.

The Prince of Wales will also travel to Westport and participate in the Defence Force’s Exercise Southern Katipo. The Duchess of Cornwall will return to Wellington and visit the SPCA.

The Prince and Duchess will visit Turangawaewae Marae on Sunday to meet Kingi Tuheitia and to receive a salute from a fleet of waka on the Waikato River.

On Monday they will travel to New Plymouth where they will attend Tea with Taranaki at Brooklands Park. The Prince of Wales will visit a dairy farm and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Len Lye Centre.

The Royal couple wind up their tour in Auckland on Tuesday where The Prince of Wales will visit Nga Rangatahi Toa Creative Arts Initiative and the Duchess of Cornwall will visit the Bellyful Charity. There will also be a visit to the Spirit of New Zealand.

“I am sure they will have a great time while they are here, and New Zealanders will make them feel very welcome,” says Mr Key.
