Wellington company Stansborough commissioned for Royal Gift

Stansborough joins New Zealand in congratulating the Royal Family including Prince William, and Catherine on the wonderful news of the arrival of a baby sister for Prince George.

Wellington based textiles company Stansborough is honoured and delighted to announce that its products will be presented as a gift from New Zealand to the new royal baby girl.

Company director, Cheryl Eldridge is ecstatic that their products were chosen over so many other beautiful New Zealand things. It's fantastic that the Government supports and values small eco friendly New Zealand companies. In doing this they have chosen a very special gift that represents a real slice of New Zealand. Stansborough have fought hard to keep their production local and sustainable.

The chosen items included a handmade Stansborough Grey pelt teddy bear and a beautiful woollen baby set from their exclusive baby range - http://www.stansborough.co.nz (Baby set)

Some things about our past....

Based in Petone, Stansborough Limited, has been operating since 1995. Their mainstay is the New Zealand production and export of innovative designer woollen textiles and interiors. Their products are created sustainably on historic 120 year old looms, from rare wool grown on their Wairarapa farm (all 100% natural and chemical free). They are a small NZ company with a history of pushing the boundaries of what can be created with wool. Their unique bespoke design and weave service is one of a kind worldwide and offers their customers a unique point of difference.

They featured in the October 2014 London Campaign for Wool exhibition - showcasing the world’s best wool interiors, as suppliers of innovative heirloom pieces to the most discerning lodges on the planet.

While not a traditional fashion house, Stansborough launched their first runway collection at Eco Fashion Week in August 2014, showcasing men’s designer street wear, based on 3000 year old wool trousers.

Stansborough rocketed to fame after securing lucrative contracts with Warner Brothers (Peter Jackson and Weta) to design and weave textiles for the Hobbit movies and continues to supply the world demand for Hobbit memorabilia.

The company first hit the big time producing the Fellowship Cloaks and other fabric for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, after being noticed in New York. They have since produced costume textiles for Disney's Narnia, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Waterhorse, Kidnapped, Spartacus, Wolverine and Navaho Blankets the soon to be released Slow West. Stansborough's products have been sold in New York, London and Sydney, to SAKS Fifth Avenue and Liberty’s, as well as used by international interior designers, fashion designers and architects. Stansborough features in the December edition of Tatler Magazine (UK) and inspired catwalk success for Deborah Sweeney during New Zealand Fashion Week.

Baby gifts and other special merchandise are available through their online shop www.stansborough.co.nz
