Narratives from the 2014 Election: what do we learn?

I would like to invite you to a Fabians Reflection on "Dirty Politics, Dotcom and Labour’s worst result" with Colin James, Keith Ng, Stephanie Rodgers and Richard Harman. They will provide a debrief of analysis and lessons from the 2014 election campaign, a campaign that had so much to offer on so many levels and continues to remain fascinating. Monday 13th October in Connolly Hall, Guildford Terrace, Wellington at 5:30pm

The panel for the session are:

Colin James who is a political journalist of 40 years experience and has correctly forecast which party would be or would lead the government after 15 of the past 16 elections. He has written six books plus several editions of a election guide for journalists and is a fellow of the Institute of Public Administration and a life member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery and the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union.

Keith Ng who having wandered the Earth for years as a hobo freelance journalist, is now exploring the Batman-model of journalism: making money doing very nerdy things so he can do more nerdy things for free. By day (and night) he designs and builds data visualisations. Later at night till early in the morning, he does nerdy data journalism on public policy and economics in NZ. He contributes OnPoint to the Public Address community of blogs.

Stephanie Rodgers who blogs at Boots Theory and The Standard. Stephanie describes herself as a geek and politics nerd who lives in Wellington with her partner and two guinea pigs. She works as a communications officer at the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union.

Richard Harman who is a New Zealand political journalist and broadcaster. He started his professional career as a reporter with The Dominion, moved to Television New Zealand, where he was a news and current affairs reporter and political editor, working on current affairs series Eye Witness News and Assignment. Since 1999 he has founded and headed the political news production company Front Page. Harman has life membership and was former chairman of the New Zealand parliamentary press gallery.
