400 British MPs and Peers express support for Regime Change in Iran, back Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan for future Iran

Urgent call for immediate actions for the security of Camp Liberty residents

In a cross party parliamentary conference organised by the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom (BPCIF), before the House going on recess, MPs and Peers from both Houses addressed the Iranian regime’s destructive role in the region particularly in Iraq and Syria.

Iran's appalling human rights record, its race towards acquiring nuclear weapons as well as its unabated support for terrorism and religious fundamentalism throughout the world and thus a need for regime change in Iran, were among the major topics discussed at the conference in the House of Commons on Thursday, July 17.

The participants also highlighted the emerging threats against the Iranian Refugees in Camp Liberty, Iraq and warned about the regime's plots to take advantage of the current crisis in Iraq in order to annihilate members of the main Iranian opposition, the PMOI, in Camp Liberty, through attacks by its terrorist Quds-Force and its mercenaries in that country.

Speakers at the conference included Lord Carlile of Berriew CBE QC; Brian Binley MP; Prof. Lord Alton of Liverpool;Lord Maginnis of Drumglass; Lord Clarke of Hampstead; Lord Cotter; Steve McCabe MP; Sir Alan Meale MP; Dr Matthew Offord MP; Jim Fitzpatrick MP; Sir Edward Leigh MP; Jim Shannon MP; Tahar Boumedra, Former UN Human Rights Chief in Iraq; David Vaughen QC; Prof. Sara Chandler, member of the Law Society Council; Malcolm Fowler;Dowlat Nowrouzi, NCRI Representative in the UK.

A video-clip was shown from the major gathering in Paris on June 27 with over 100,000 participants from all around the world joined by 600 parliamentarians and dignitaries from 69 countries representing five continents. The grand gathering “All for Freedom” supported a democratic regime change in Iran and the ten point-plan for future of that country presented by the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs Maryam Rajavi.

Lord Carlile of Berriew CBE QC, who led the British delegation of MPs and prominent lawyers to the Paris gathering, chaired today’s conference at the House of Commons and announced the initiative “Support Human Rights and Democracy in Iran” signed by more than 400 MPs and Peers from both Houses and all parties including more than 20 Parliamentary committee chairmen and former ministers.

“Besides repression at home, the religious dictatorship continues its export of terrorism to countries such as Syria, Iraq and Lebanon and pursues its secret nuclear programme”, the 400 MPs and Peers said in this statement. It calls for a referral of “Iran's dossier of human rights violations to the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court in order to bring the perpetrators to justice”. In this initiative the 400 signatories also declare that they “stand by Maryam Rajavi’s third option for democratic change by the Iranian people and their organised resistance movement and support her 10-point plan for a future Iran.”

Referring to Rouhani’s record as well as the Iranian regime's meddling in the region, Lord Carlile of Berriew CBE QC, the co-chair of the BPCIF, expressed “his deep concern for the security of the Camp Liberty residents and called on the US, the UN and the UK government to take immediate action for protection of the camp residents”. He asked “the UNAMI and the UNHCR to go back to the camp and take UN Blue Helmets with them”. Also, as Chairman of the BPCIF, he committed himself to raise the matter with the FCO and the UK government and to expand the BPCIF to ensure that a right policy towards Iran will be adopted by the government and he will receive the right responses from the FCO on this matter.

Brian Binley MP, President of International Parliamentary Committee in Defence of Ashraf and Liberty, said with regard to the next session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on 23 July, “I take this opportunity to call on the government, as a permanent member of the UNSC, to persuade state members to send UN Blue Helmets to Camp Liberty to protect the residents, who we promised to protect”.

Prof. Lord Alton of Liverpool, while deploring the Iran's appalling human rights record, said that Rouhani's arrival has brought no change to Iran and quoted Mrs. Rajavi as saying “the P5+1 should not engage in deals in Vienna and Geneva at the expense of the Iranian people’s human rights and offer concessions to the mullahs.”

Referring to the crisis in Iraq, Lord Maginnis of Drumglass, said, “Today, the only growing consensus to address the Iraqi crisis is that Maliki must be ousted and the Iranian regime's intervention must be stopped.” He further called on the UK government, the US and the UN to initiate dialogue with Iraqi people and their Tribe Leaders, to form an inclusive democratic government and to secure international protection for the residents of Camp Liberty through UN Blue Helmet forces.

Expressing his wonder why the Iranian regime is going through all this face-loosing trouble to plot against 3000 Iranian refugees stock in camp in Baghdad, Lord Cotter, said “I saw the answer with my own eyes in the Paris Gathering with 100 000 Iranians and dignitaries from 69 countries supporting this most viable alternative to the rule of the Ayatollahs led by Madam Rajavi and guided by her 10-points plan for future Iran.”

Lord Clarke of Hampstead referring to the Iranian regime's propaganda campaign against the PMOI, said, “the mullahs are putting out misinformation as they have a fear in Iran that the people will raise up and remove them.”

Addressing the western governments and the international community, Sir Alan Meale Labour MP protested against their silence and said "If you are concerned about ISIS, Libiya, Syria, etc, why not Camp Liberty?”

Steve McCabe MP, said “Any arrangements and talks with Iran need to be based on respect for human rights, ending the nuclear project, justice for those at Camp Liberty, a free and independent judiciary as well as free and fair internationally supervised elections in which Maryam Rajavi can participate.”

Matthew Offord MP, stated, "Since Rouhani came, I see no changes. As I attended the Paris Gathering I was astonished when I heard Madame Rajavi's 10-point plan. She has a vision and a plan for a future democratic Iran, but Rouhani does not."

Tahar Boumedra, Former UN Human Rights Chief in Iraq, criticized the UNAMI by saying “Once again UNAMI has let down Liberty residents by not honouring their commitment under the MoU signed on 25-12-11 providing UNAMI will monitor 24/7. Following the fall of Mosul, UNAMI has relocated its staff to Amman and Erbil. This led to abandoning its monitoring mission."

Dowlat Nowrouzi, NCRI UK Representative, expressed her deep gratitude to the 400 MPs and Peers for supporting freedom and democracy in Iran as well as Mrs Rajavi's third option for regime change. Referring to the nuclear issue, she said: “the mullahs are in total deadlock. It would be a grave mistake P5+1 to provide concessions to Tehran. The west must demand implementation of the four UN Security Council resolutions, stop enrichment, shut down Arak Reactor producing heavy water, also inspection by IAEA from all suspected sites and allow interviews to be carried out with 100 nuclear scientists.”
