Hipstamatics Announce Soul Revue
Tour
New Zealand’s soul supergroup Hipstamatics will tour their fun and funky live set throughout New Zealand this summer in a musical experience not to be missed!
Hipstamatics are a dynamic 11 piece band with a distinct flavour that draws inspiration from the classic 70s and newer funk style of artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Daptones and Tower Of Power. They have earned a ‘must see’ reputation for their energetic live performances which get everyone on their feet and feeling funky.
The band share “we are very excited to bring to the stage a brand-new show reminiscent of the yester-year. Aptly named 'Soul Revue' Tour, the show highlights our new original material while paying tribute to the classics. Presented in the style of a Soul Revue, this show is one not to be missed.”

The tour will feature new original songs including Thank You For the Flowers, Soul Music and new single Stop, as well as crowd favourite remixes of iconic songs.
Hipstamatics consists of a 5-piece rhythm section, a 3-piece horn section and 3 powerful vocalists. The band are a soul super group featuring New Zealand’s finest musicians, including; Carla James on vocals, she has worked with the likes of Tahuna Breaks, Jonathan Brittain on Trombone he has played with his hero Fred Westly, Nicky Bomba from the John Butler Trio. Michael Barker from Split Endz, and has accompanied many high class acts such as Frankie Stevens, Annie Crummer & Hollie Smith. Christian Mausia on Trumpet has played with the likes of, Three Houses Down, Karachifire, Vince Harder, Stan Walker & Sons of Zion. As well as Thabani Gapara The Zimbabwian born Saxophinist has played with a veritable feat of bands both since arriving in NZ, Katchafire, MaVelle, Batucada, House Of Shem and many more.
The band have been regularly performing over the past 6 years and after a year of writing and collaborating they are ready to take their new original set on tour around NZ.
