November 2016
Maori Television follows 2016 Maori All Blacks Rugby Tour with Free-To-Air coverage of Northern Hemisphere games.
Maori Television will follow the Maori All Blacks as they travel the Northern Hemisphere on their 2016 Tour, broadcasting the 3 international games free to air throughout November.
This year sees the team travel to Chicago, Ireland and London in clashes against local teams as part of their Northern Hemisphere Tour, with the Maori All Blacks facing the USA Eagles as part of a double header the day before the All Blacks play Ireland.
Ireland’s Munster have a long standing competitive history with the All Blacks, being the only Irish senior men’s team to ever beat the All Blacks in an infamous 12 – 0 victory in 1978. With this game becoming the stuff of legends, there is no doubt that the Munster team will be bringing their A-game to the field when they encounter the Maori All Blacks’ entertaining style of Rugby for the very first time.
The Maori All Blacks will also face high profile English Premiership side Harlequin at their home ground of Twickenham as part of the clubs 150th year celebrations. This promises to be another epic encounter, with the Maori All Black’s keen to avenge their 11 – 5 loss to the Harlequins in 1926.
Maori All Blacks Head Coach Colin Cooper (Ngati Pukenga/Ngati Porou) comments “We are looking forward to heading to Chicago to play the USA Eagles. Playing any national side is an honour, and they’re a team that’s really cementing their place in international rugby. Our matches against Munster and Harlequins will also be very special as we love taking the Maori All Blacks’ style of rugby to other countries.”
