AN EVENING WITH
BRIAN MCKNIGHT
+ FULL LIVE BAND
TO
BE JOINED BY SPECIAL GUEST DRAX PROJECT FOR BOTH NZ SHOWS
Frontier Touring and Illusive Presents are excited to announce Drax Project will be supporting R&B sensationBrian McKnight and his full live band on both New Zealand concerts!
Drax Project began as the late night drums and sax busking duo of Jazz students Shaan Singh and Matt Beachen. Their pop, hip hop and classic R&B sessions on Courtney Place in Wellington would regularly evolve into impromptu street parties, with crowds of several hundred stopping to dance. Adding fellow music students Sam Thomson on bass and Ben O'Leary on guitar, they quickly moved from being a Wellington street favourite, to being one of the city's favourite club acts. This strong local buzz saw them offered sets at some of the major festivals and begin to tour the country.
Upon graduating in 2015, they signed to Universal Music Group, releasing their well-received first EP for the label 'T/W/OO' in April 2016. After spending the winter in the warmth of a studio, they released the new single 'Falling Out of Sight'. With several more singles scheduled, a major run of festivals and a summer tour all in the pipeline, you can expect to hear a lot more of Drax Project's R&B infused pop over the coming months. But first come and see them live when they open for Brian McKnight this October!
Returning after sold out tours in 2011 and
2013, McKnight is bringing an array of
favourites like ‘One Last Cry’, ‘The Only One For Me’ and
classic ‘Back At One’ which was #2
on the Billboard chart for eight consecutive weeks. He is
also touring his latest album Better which was
released through his own label early this year and features
hits like ‘Uh Oh Feeling’
and ‘Better’. McKnight
recently teamed up with American hip hop artist Travis
Scott, featuring in his albumteaser, showing why he is the
falsetto master.
With both Wellington and Auckland shows
selling fast, don’t miss this chance to spend An Evening
With Brian McKnight and special guests Drax Project this
October!
