JIM BEAM HOMEGROWN 2017 – 1st Announcement
Celebrating its 10th year, the Jim Beam Homegrown festival is back on March 4th and ready to fire on all cylinders! Kiwi music’s biggest party will take over the Wellington Waterfront with 48 acts spread over 6 independent stages and the first announcement gives a damn good nudge at how epic this day will be!
One way to guarantee a sell-out is to have either Six60 or Fat Freddy’s Drop on the bill, next year, the Jim Beam Dub & Roots Stage will have both! If that’s not enough you can kick back on the grass for a feast of Reggae from Tomorrow People and Sons of Zion, or soak up the psychedelic funk of L.A.B. The 2nd announcement will add another 4 acts to complete the stage.
There’s nothing like seeing Shihad in their home-town headlining the Jim Beam Rock Stage!
With I Am Giant, City of Souls, The Feelers and a reunited, all-original Elemeno-P also on offer (plus another 3 more acts to be named), it will be a massive day in the pit for rock fans.
The Urban Stage brings a combination of fresh new talent and crowd favourites. Savage and the soulful Ladi6 will grace the stage as will 3 of this year’s break-out acts including Drax Project, Kings, and Christchurch Folk-Pop act Nomad. With 5 more acts still to be named the Urban Stage line-up will just keep getting better.
A first look at the Lab Stage brings a quality mix of bands including Anika Moa, two piece rock monsters Skinny Hobos and a swathe of hip hop and RnB from Team Dynamite, Spycc & INF ft. SmokeyGotBeatz and Mikey Mayz ft. Sesh.
World class drum and bass act The Upbeats
are headlining The Lipton Ice Tea Electronic stage.
Aroha and MC Tali will provide an unbeatable start to
the day before Stack and Piece, Chores and Wellington’s
Eastern Bloc make their Homegrown debuts. Two more acts will
seal the deal when the 2nd announcement is made.
If you’re looking to discover a few new gems, The Local Stage is free-to-the-public and showcases an impressive collection of local talent. Five must-see acts are; up and coming rock band Bakers Eddy, hip hop acts Raw Collective and Mad Handsome, the impressive 9 piece New Orleans soul styled Richter City Rebels and effortless and organic neo-soul sounds of Bailey Wiley.
Even without the 18 acts still to be announced on October 31st, the 10th incarnation of Jim Beam Homegrown is sure to sell out. For more information on the line-up or to secure early bird tickets on sale Monday 26th September (only $99 + b.f), visit www.homegrown.net.nz
