One Love Festival 2017: Two Days of Sunshine Reggae

Lock in the dates! The first installment of acts playing at the ONE LOVE FESTIVAL 2017 has just been announced. And with a line-up of epic proportions, stretched over two days of sunshine and sweet vibes, this is one celebration you simply cannot miss.

After the sell-out success of this year’s event, Pato Entertainment is pleased to be bringing the music and cultural extravaganza back to Tauranga Domain on Waitangi weekend - Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5, 2017.

In its fifth year, ONE LOVE is considered to be one of the world’s leading reggae-based festivals and due to popular demand, organisers are encouraging punters to get tickets early as this event will sell out

They’re also upping the stakes when it comes to talent, with an international line-up that’s second to none.

Straight out of Hawaii’s thriving roots, rock, and reggae scene are Kolohe Kai, Rebel Souljahz, FIJI (AKA George Veikoso - the Polynesian ‘King of Reggae’) and The Green. Add to the melting pot Spawnbreezie & Josh Wawa with his unique style of island sounds, Kiwi reggae legends Katchafire and Jamaica’s ‘man of the moment’ Tarrus Riley, and you’ve got what’s sure to be one of hottest festival line-ups in the upcoming southern hemisphere summer.

In keeping with ONE LOVE’s commitment to provide festival-goers with every spectrum of the reggae rainbow, there’s also a nod to the old school with Britain’s mighty Steel Pulse - who promised they’d be on stage in 2017 after unfortunately pulling out of this year’s festival at the last minute due to an illness in the band. Also on the bill are Black Slate of ‘Amigo’ and ‘Boom Boom’ fame.

As always, there’s a solid local contingent made up of the best Aotearoa has to offer, including Sammy J, Tomorrow People, Sons of Zion and the super-talented soul sisterAaradhna, who will be undoubtedly be one of the festival’s drawcards. Her new albumBROWN GIRL is out next week.

The festival is being held at Tauranga Domain, conveniently located in the heart of the city and just a short trip to some of New Zealand’s most beautiful beaches.

“Tauranga is such a beautiful place to run events from, from the many surrounding beaches to the vast hills that border this fantastic city,” says festival promoter Pato Alvarez.

Camping will again be an option for those coming from out of town. Those looking for other accommodation are urged to get in quickly, because motels and hotels are already filling up.

In the meantime, peace out and look forward to the next chapter in the ONE LOVEjourney.

“Reggae is all about love, positive vibes and standing up for what you believe in. When you are at the ONE LOVE FESTIVAL you can feel that throughout the crowd and the performers. It creates an electric atmosphere,” says Pato Alvarez.

Tickets are on sale from 7.00am on August 4 at www.onelovefestival.co.nz and if you get in before 7.00am on August 5, you’ll get a discounted ticket along with a limited edition One Love 2017 t-shirt!
