Can't Wait for Taupo Says 2013-14 Championship Winner
Championship winning driver Nick Ross cannot wait to get back behind the wheel of the TOTAL Lubricants Nissan Altima for the exciting debut round of the newly formed New Zealand Touring Cars held at Taupo Motorsport Park this coming weekend.
The NZV8 Touring Cars 2013-14 champion is very much looking forward to the start of a new era in national motorsport after an amalgamation of the NZV8 Touring Cars and the V8 Supertourers bring forth a brand new vibrant category being introduced this season.
The NZ Touring Cars will host a brand new format show-casing two rip-roaring V8 classes where the former NZV8 Touring Car TLX cars will compete head to head with the former V8 Super Tourer cars as Class One whereas the older NZV8 Touring Car TL cars will compete as Class Two.
The two classes will race on-track at the same time and a field of over 20 cars is expected for this weekend's opening round.
"I'm looking forward to this weekend at Taupo and I'm looking forward to the two categories combining where there will be some very good racing." said Ross.
Nick Ross will once again pilot the TOTAL Lubricants Nissan Altima which he debuted last year and he joins Toyota, Holden and Ford in the growing V8 powered formula which is open to all brands abe to fit the NZ Touring Car criteria.
With the merger of the nation's two leading V8 categories into one premiere championship, changes were needed to establish parity between the very different TLX and ST cars including introducing a common tyre from Dunlop and closing down the gap in engine power.
"We have increased our power in the Nissan a little bit and of course we are using new tyres this season which are wider and a little bit higher. The parity issue will be an ongoing process throughout the season with a few tweaks here and there between the cars to make it all competitive." said Ross.
Nick Ross and Concept Motorsport welcome hydraulic experts Ryco 24/7 to their family of valuable sponsors for this auspicious 2015-16 campaign for the first ever NZ Touring Cars Championship.
Ryco 24/7 join a strong line up of sponsors who have been integral in the helping the team to stay up the front of the field since the introduction of the New Generation TLX cars and claiming the NZV8 Touring Cars 2013-14 Championship and second place last season.
"A big welcome to Ryco 24/7 for coming on board this season and of course a big thanks for all of our sponsors who have chosen to stay with us." said Ross.
In addition TOTAL Lubricants have remained as the team's major naming sponsor once again for this new season continuing a long running relationship.
The start of this exciting new era in New Zealand motorsport erupts in a loud V8 powered roar this coming weekend of 17-18 October at Taupo Motorsport Park.
Nick Ross, the TOTAL Lubricants Nissan Altima and Concept Motorsport are sponsored by TOTAL Lubricants, Jim Wright Nissan, Ryco 24/7, C&R Developments, Connex, Team Wino, Auto Trail Ltd, 82oc, Classic Cover Insurance and Tyre Traders.
