The 2015 Rialto Channel 48hours Winners Are....
Rialto Channel 48HOURS is now a teenager in its 13th year. The national filmmaking competition winners were announced at the 2015 Grand National Final hosted on Saturday evening (4TH July) in Auckland.
Rialto Channel 48HOURS kicked off on MAY 1 when close to 700 teams from around New Zealand wrote, shot, edited and delivered their short films in just 48 hours.
The competition, NZ’s biggest filmmaking comp, hands out awards and prizes from a prize pool valued at over $60,000. This year three lucky teams from Wellington and Auckland were picked by Sir Peter Jackson as his 2015 Wildcard entries. Those films had direct nomination for best film in the Grand National Final.
But in the end, there could only be one….
The 2015 Grand National Champion is Team CHESS CLUB, with their short “BREAD WINNER”
This is the first time TEAM CHESS CLUB have been crowned Grand National Champ after entering Rialto Channel 48HOURS in a number of previous years. Their film ‘Bread Winner” also won Best Script.
“We’re incredibly proud to be winners of this awesome competition amongst the country’s best unsung film-making talent.” - Barnaby Fredric, TEAM CHESS CLUB
The Runner Up award went to team KING GAINS BURY & BICHES for “TIDE” who also took out Best Actress & Best Cinematography. Team COUCH KUMARAS with their film “LOYAL” took out Runner Runner Up (third place), Best Actor & Best Editing.
