Tomorrow marks the 100th ANZAC Day, and if you are a Kiwi or Aussie far from home there are plenty of events on to enable you both to pay your respects as well as connect with your community on this sombre occasion. Bring home a little closer – here is our round up of public ANZAC events across the UK and Europe...

LONDON

ANZAC Dawn Service, Hyde Park Corner – 4.50am

The annual London dawn service is expected to attract between 4,000 and 5,000 people this year. Breaking with the tradition of the Australian and New Zealand memorials alternately hosting the service each year, tomorrow’s service will embrace the unity of ANZAC spirit and take place in front of the Wellington Arch. The service will be followed by a wreath-laying at both memorials, as well as an expected 300-strong waiata from the New Zealand community, lead by London Maori club, Ngati Ranana.

This year ANZAC Day is being officially commemorated by the UK as a national day of remembrance, so additional security procedures are in place. Those wishing to attend this year’s dawn service are advised to get to Hyde Park Corner much earlier than usual, as searches may be in place. Please bring photographic identification – you may be asked to show it.

Please note that the 11am ceremony at the Cenotaph as well as the ANZAC service at Westminster Abbey are ticketed events, and all tickets have now been allocated. The NZ Society UK event has also now sold out.

Kiwis in London ANZAC Day, Elk Bar, Fulham – all day

Doors open at 7am to accommodate those who might be looking for an ANZAC breakfast concluding the dawn service. The event will run all day and into the night, with both a BBQ lunch and dinner available, as well as drink deals and entertainment. Australians are of course also most welcome; please do join us on this day! Details can be found here.

EDINBURGH

For the first time it will be broadcast live to a large screen on the Castle esplanade to allow active participation in the service from those gathered there to join in the commemoration.
