Marlon Williams Announces National Album Release Tour
Presented by Heartstop Music, Eccles Entertainment, 95bFM, Radio 1, RDU, Under The Radar and Spotify
Man of the moment, Marlon Williams, releases his critically acclaimed debut album today alongside a 9-date tour of New Zealand and Australia with his band The Yarra Benders and special guest Laura Jean.
The self-titled release has already received a swathe of 4 and 5 star reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, The Age, The Australian and Stack Magazine, the New Zealand Herald glowing "Williams' combination of youthful enthusiasm, old-soul wisdom, and solid songwriting makes this debut a wonderfully accomplished record which justifies the hype he is getting" and Metro Magazine saying "It's a revelation: an album that will still be listened to and enjoyed a decade hence."
Williams has also this week been nominated for his fourth New Zealand Music Award in as many years, this time for Best Country Album for Volume 3 of the Sad But True series with Delaney Davidson.
The 24-year old Kiwi crooner kicked off his solo career with a move to Melbourne in mid-2013, and has enjoyed a rapid rise courtesy of knock out performances at Byron Bay Bluesfest, Port Fairy, Queenscliff and Meredith Music Festival, performances on Rockwiz and TEDx Sydney, tours with First Aid Kit and Justin Townes Earle, a run of sold out tour shows around Australia and NZ, and the albums incredible lead single Dark Child.
He is being widely tipped as New Zealand's next international success story, and will be touring the UK and North America in coming months ahead of this album's international release later in the year.
For now though, local fans can catch Williams in June at some of the countries most beautiful spaces, including the 1300 capacity Theatre Royal in Christchurch and the rarely used gem that is Crystal Palace in Auckland. Williams will be joined on the tour by his long time touring buddies Ben Woolley and Dave Khan in The Yarra Benders, plus Melbourne drummer Gus Agars.
The album is available now in all record stores, iTunes and Williams' catalogue is available on Spotify.
