Viva Prix de Fashion winner in a class of their own

New Zealand’s biggest and most glamorous week of thoroughbred racing got off to a fashionable start today at TV3 Derby Day, with the hotly anticipated Viva Prix de Fashion competition at Ellerslie showcasing a pedigree of a different kind.

Contestants exceeded judges’ expectations with a parade of fabulously chic looks that effortlessly combined catwalk fashion with racewear functionality.

The Viva Prix de Fashion Supreme National Winner, was chosen from Fashion in the Field finalists from around New Zealand, went to Charlotte Moor, who received a total prize package worth more than $30,000 including a three month lease on a BMW 4 Series Convertible; two bespoke couture millinery pieces from Natalie Chan, and from Victoria Racing Club, a trip to the 2015 Melbourne Cup Carnival including 4 night’s accommodation and automatic entry into the Myer Fashion on the Field, for their winning ensemble.

Charlotte, who won at Crown Oaks Day in Sydney last year, said she was, “Overwhelmed but excited to win and was looking forward to representing New Zealand at Myer Fashion on the Field”. Charlotte wore a traditional Derby Day black and white ensemble comprising a black Arthur Galan skirt, a black and white top and headpiece made by her mum, vintage Ebay gloves and a bag by Kate Spade.

Johanna Neuhauser, The Viva Prix de Fashion Daily winner was awarded from those who entered the competition on the Day. Johanna won a stunning diamond collection from Tous Jewellers valued at $15,000.

Guest judges included the crème de la crème of New Zealand and Australian race wear, with Tracey Dalton, Head of Styling & Make Up at TV3, and Janetta Mackay, beauty editor of Viva, assisting international guest judge, Kerrie Stanley.

An in demand milliner who has made pieces for Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hawkins and Ashley Hart, Kerrie’s headwear has been worn by over two dozen ‘Fashions-on-the-Field’ winners nationally in Australia. Kerrie commented, “I was very impressed by the attention to detail in the outfits on display this year. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into each outfit. Naturally I have an eye for the head wear and was not disappointed! I look forward to seeing Charlotte compete in Myer Fashions on the Field at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in November and wish her the best of luck.”

Viva Prix de Fashion is New Zealand’s premiere racing fashion event. The culmination of Fashion in the Field competitions held at thoroughbred racing clubs across the country, Viva Prix de Fashion brings together the best of the best to find the person to represent New Zealand at the 2015 Myer Fashions on the Field as part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
