Sydney to host ANZ Championship Summer Shootout

The world’s best netballers are heading to Sydney for the 2015 ANZ Championship Official Pre-Season Summer Shootout from 6 – 8 February 2015.

All 10 teams from Australia and New Zealand will be in action at the three-day tournament hosted by Netball NSW at the newly completed $35 million Netball Central at Sydney Olympic Park.

A total of 25 games, comprising of both full length and shortened games consisting of two 15-minute periods, will be contested over the weekend as teams play five matches, beginning on Friday night at5.00pm before concluding on Sunday afternoon.

ANZ Championship General Manager Andy Crook said it’s fantastic to have all 10 teams together in one location to kick off a huge netball year in Sydney, which concludes with the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 in August.

“The Summer Shootout not only provides our teams with an opportunity to fine tune their preparations ahead of the opening round but also gives our fans the unique opportunity to watch the world’s best netballers at once,” Crook said.

“It’s fitting that we kick off our year of netball in Sydney with the Summer Shootout before teammates turn foes in August when the stars of our league line up for their countries at the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015.”

Netball NSW CEO Carolyn Campbell said all eyes will be on Sydney in 2015, beginning at the new Netball Central.

“The eyes of the world will be on NSW next year as Sydney hosts the 2015 Netball World Cup, and in February sports fans will get a preview as the best netballers compete in our new centre of excellence, Netball Central,” Netball NSW Chief Executive Carolyn Campbell said.

“Netball Central is the world’s leading, purpose built netball facility, and it’s only fitting that the ANZ Championship Pre-Season Summer Shootout will be the first international tournament contested at the venue.”

“Netball NSW has made session tickets affordable to provide even greater access to this amazing tournament and we would like to thank Sydney Olympic Park Authority for their support in delivering this event,” concluded Campbell.
