Triathlon NZ Calls for Registrations for 2015 Youth Festival

Spots in 2015 National Talent Squad up for Grabs

Triathlon New Zealand is calling all aspiring triathletes of the future to assemble in Takapuna next February at the Triathlon NZ HP Youth Festival. If you think you have the attributes to one day represent New Zealand on the world stage in triathlon, this may be your chance to be discovered!

Athletes need not currently be in the sport of triathlon but should have a swimming, running or cycling background and be keen to learn more about the sport and test themselves against others across those three core disciplines and other more detailed sessions, all with a view to Tri NZ selecting the 2015 National Talent Squad.

The Festival is the culmination of the first year for the National Talent Programme. It is an opportunity for athletes to come together and perform before the National Talent Squad is selected in late March 2015, with its programme including training at the National High Performance Centre in Cambridge and overseas experience. The Festival is also an opportunity for coaches to connect and build relationships with each other and Triathlon NZ. Athletes will be from the NTS, RYA, and from other areas – and it is not necessary to have had any previous triathlon experience.

All contenders must be aged between 15 and 19 years of age* and be prepared to commit to three days of activities comprising swim, run, bike power, movement skills, character assessment, aquathlon (swim/run) and triathlon trials.

The Festival will be held at the Millennium Institute (MISH) on the North Shore and will include guest appearances from NTS Ambassadors Hamish Carter and Debbie Tanner, with coaching from leading Tri NZ accredited and HP Coaches. It includes participation in the Sovereign Takapuna Tri Series event on the 13th.
