Young Talent Selected to Attend NCZ Talent Development Camp

Netball Central Zone (NCZ) selectors have invited 33 leading secondary school players from across the zone to a Talent Development Camp to be held in Palmerston North on 13th December 2014. Four Cluster Development Days were recently held in Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Taranaki and Wellington.

Experienced coaches Pelesa Semu, Charissa Barham and Frances Solia will lead the camp.

Frances Solia, NCZ Emerging Talent Manager, said the camp will help prepare the athletes for the New Zealand Emerging Talent (NZET) selectors when they come and observe them in January next year.

“NCZ players the NZET selectors are impressed with will receive an invitation from Netball New Zealand to attend the NZ Secondary School Trials later in 2015,” she explained. “The purpose of our December camp is to keep them engaged before they break for Christmas, so it will be a very intense training day. Pelesa, Charissa and myself are looking forward to working with the athletes, it’s going to be a great day.”

“The NCZ selectors feel that these players are of a high calibre and ready to be exposed to another level. I am confident within this mix there are potential NZ Secondary School contenders, as well as players that could in the next few years play a part in the ANZ Championship,” added Frances.
