Do You Have What It Takes? Simon Evans Accepts Racing Challenges From All Comers.
V8 SuperTourer star Simon Evans is used to having some serious professional competition on the track, but from this weekend he will be accepting challenges from all comers as he pits his considerable racing skills against anyone who dares with the upcoming SMEG Racing ‘RACE ME’ Competition.
Fresh from a huge V8 SuperTourer season where he finished a very strong second to four time Bathhurst1000 winner and New Zealand racing legend Greg Murphy, Evans looks set to go one better and take it all the way to the top this year. “We’ve got a huge season ahead with the SMEG Racing Team and it will be great to be able to get alongside the fans and check out the other racing talent that is out there,” Evans said.
Fans will have two opportunites to win a VIP experience for two people including a hot lap with Evans and the SMEG Racing Team. The first will be the option of beating Evans’ race time on the Bathhurst lap of the Grand Turismo 6 Playstation game – either on the SMEG Racing Simulators at selected locations or from the comfort of their own homes, by posting a photo of their lap times to the SMEG NZ Facebook page with the #smegracing hashtag.
For a bigger challenge, fans can also race Evans himself on the simulators at selected times and locations where he and the SMEG Racing Team will be visting during September. They’re also bringing the SMEG Racing Car, signing autographs and getting up close and personal with their fans.
The second option is simply to go into the draw by purchasing any SMEG appliance at all Kitchen Things stores, the Auckland Home Show or the Waikato Home Show within the promotional period.
The competition is now live and closes at 9am on October 6th 2014.
A special ‘Put Dad In The Hot Seat’ challenge has also been announced, in honour of Fathers Day where fans are asked to bring dads in to Kitchen Things in Mt Wellington, Auckland this Sunday August 24th 2014 to meet the SMEG Racing Team and to race Evans on the SMEG Racing Simulators in order to win a VIP experience for the day. Races will commence from 12pm onwards.
SMEG New Zealand Distributor and Managing Director Rachel Louie is thrilled with the partnership.
“We’re really excited to be involved with Simon and the SMEG Racing Team which has been a fun and rewarding partnership so far. Our promotion of superior performance of both SMEG Racing and our SMEG appliances is a great fit.
“We can’t wait to get Simon into store with customers and fans and to give them the opportunity to see what a talented driver he is and why we choose to partner with such a professional team,” she said.
