AMERICAN AUTHORS
WITH VERY SPECIAL GUEST ANDY GRAMMER,
AND NOW BENNY TIPENE!

In what is certainly shaping up to be the hottest bill of 2014, Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce the addition of Benny Tipene to perform with American Authors and Andy Grammer!

Benny Tipene shot to local stardom after appearing on the New Zealand series of The X Factor. In the years prior, Benny had been a very proficient songwriter and musician and had been at the forefront of many and varied musical projects.

Tipene signed to Sony Music and released his debut single 'Walking On Water' which debuted at #2 on The Official New Zealand Music Chart and was later certified as a platinum selling single. Second single 'Make You Mine' garnered further acclaim and in February of this year Benny released his debut EP 'Toulouse'.

Brooklyn-based alt rock band American Authors will be visiting New Zealand for the first time this year to play one show only in Auckland.

American Authors are making their first trip downunder! Band members Zac Barnett, James Adam Shelley, Dave Rublin and Matt Sanchez left the Berklee College of Music in Boston where they met to take their alt-rock, four-part harmonies and infectious pop sensibilities to the Big Apple as American Authors. Their honest songwriting evidently comes from the diversity that the four members bring to the table. As lead singer Zac Barnett explains the idea behind their name and work ethic:

“We’re the authors of our lives, creating music from what we’ve lived, from what we hope for, from what we feel. Every day is different and like everyone, our emotions change according to our personal highs and lows and by the challenges or triumphs that affect all of us…we’re not afraid to be goofy one day and serious the next. We just want to be true to ourselves and share our stories for as long as people are willing to listen” – Zac Barnett (vocals)

Debut single ‘Best Day Of My Life’ proved to be a massive international breakthrough for the band (click here to watch), gaining worldwide success as it featured on various advertising campaigns around the world.

The mega hit was even performed on Glee earlier this year during their ‘New New York’ episode (click here to watch) as well as being invited on Ellen to perform the anthemic tune (click here to watch). More recently they appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman.

In the last few months, American Authors have not only proved to be proficient songwriters that have captivated audiences across the world, they have proven themselves as headliners in their own right through their energy and commitment to honing their craft as live performers. If the international response to American Authors is anything to go by, you will not want to miss these guys in action.

Andy Grammer’s remarkable career started on the humble streets of Santa Monica, CA and quickly catapulted as he became the first male artist to hit the Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult Pop chart with his first two singles ‘Keep Your Head Up’ and ‘Fine By Me’. His infectious debut single ‘Keep Your Head Up’ (click here to watch) features in the globally acclaimed movie Pitch Perfect and is now closing in on 9 million views on Youtube and has been streamed over 8 million times on Spotify!

Since his breakthrough debut, Grammer has continued to take radio by storm, with his latest single ‘Back Home’ recently jumping into the NZ charts (click here to watch). A month since it hit the airwaves, ‘Back Home’ is fast becoming a sure fire pop hit following in true Grammer tradition.

The joyously anthemic track is the strong lead single for Grammer’s second full-length album Magazines Or Novels (out 8 August through Liberator Music), pre-empting great things from this multi-talented musician and charismatic performer.

American Authors, Andy Grammer and now Benny Tipene, this will sure be one special night to remember!
