The Edge Misses Setting New Skinny Dip World Record   3 Dec 2012

The Edge missed out on breaking the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people skinny dipping at a single venue.

Dom Harvey and Breakfast co-host, Jay-Jay Feeney could only lure 299 skinny dippers into the water at Harrison’s Cut, Papamoa Beach, Tauranga today. It was 73 more people than yesterday’s attempt at Sumner Beach, Christchurch.

They needed 414 people to beat the current record of 413 people that was achieved in Llangennith, South Wales in June 2011.

“We had high hopes that Tauranga would be the place to break the record. It just wasn’t meant to be this year. If only we could combine the results but it had to be at a single venue”, says Harvey

“Thanks to everyone who participated, we had a great afternoon at both. Stay tuned as we might try again next year when the water is a little warmer.”

As an added incentive to participate, The Edge rewarded John Camargo of Tauranga and Marcus Hooper of Christchurch with $1,000, thanks to Plumb In Bathrooms.
