Futures trading with assets of state   21 Nov 2011

‘John Key is trying to sell me something that I already own. He is futures trading with assets of state,’ said Dr Peter Cleave, Mana candidate, Rangitikei.

‘John Key is trying to be the smartest guy in the room,’ said Dr Cleave referring to the title of a book on the failed energy trader Enron that helped to inspire the Occupy movement.

Dr Cleave again encouraged people considering voting for Mana in Rangitikei to read the blog of Peter Wheeler; http://wheelerscornernz.blogspot.com/2011/11/john-key-smiling-assassin-or-hero-you.html

‘Look at what the futures traders did to Enron,’ said Dr Cleave ‘Look at what Wheeler is saying about John Key, futures trading and Merrill Lynch.

By threatening to sell assets like power companies John Key is gambling on several fronts with things we own. There is the income from the assets, there is the sell-down of a minority shareholding and the gamble on the future price and future return of power. The voters of Rangitikei do not need John Key to play ‘silly beggars’ with their hard earned assets.’
